JAMB Takes Over HND Admissions in Polytechnics and Allied Institutions
The National Board for Technical Education has directed that JAMB will handle all Higher National Diploma admissions in polytechnics, allied institutions, colleges of nursing sciences and health technology from the current admission session. The policy is intended to centralise admissions, ensure candidates are admitted only into accredited programmes within approved quotas, and stop illegal admissions that can affect NYSC mobilisation. NBTE will issue HND admission guidelines to support JAMB’s digital admission platform. The directive also states that NCE holders seeking HND admission must apply through JAMB Direct Entry and obtain a valid ND before progressing to HND. Institutions that violate the new rules risk regulatory sanctions, including withdrawal of their operating licence. NBTE added that outstanding cases involving legally admitted ND part-time and HND full-time candidates will be resolved to enable eligible graduates to proceed for NYSC mobilisation.
