Zimbabwean Man Accused of Burning Brother’s Hut Over Memory Card Dispute

Zimbabwean Man Accused of Burning Brother’s Hut Over Memory Card Dispute

A 20-year-old man in Gutu, Zimbabwe, has appeared in court after he was accused of setting his brother’s kitchen hut on fire during a dispute over a memory card. Prosecutors alleged that he demanded the card from his 23-year-old brother, who said he had returned it to its owner. After reportedly failing to recover it elsewhere, the accused allegedly returned and confronted his brother again. The brother escaped after waking to find the hut on fire. Neighbours helped put out the blaze, but the structure, a bed, clothing, shoes and kitchen items were reportedly destroyed. The damage was estimated at US$300. The case is still before the court, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
