Taraba Nursing Students Protest After Alleged Hostel Attack and Sexual Assault
Students of the Taraba State College of Nursing Science, Jalingo, held a peaceful protest after an overnight attack on a female hostel located outside the school premises. The attackers allegedly robbed students of phones and other valuables, sexually assaulted one student and injured her. The student was taken to a hospital in the Mile 6 area of Jalingo for treatment. A student union official said this was the second reported attack on student hostels within two weeks. Students say they had previously raised security concerns with the school authorities after an earlier raid. The Commissioner for Tertiary Education reportedly visited the college after the first incident and promised improved security.
