Police Arrest Two, Hunt Third Suspect Over Rape of 16-Year-Old in Edo
Two men have been arrested in Edo following the sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl who fled her aunt’s home with five thousand naira. The victim said she first approached one suspect, who took her to a colleague’s one-room apartment. She was assaulted through the night. The next morning she went to a second man’s home in Ogiso Quarters, where the abuse continued for three days. A vigilante security guard raised the alarm and the Edo State Task Force, led by ASP Ibharagbotua Odigie Smart, secured two arrests. A third suspect remains at large. The First Lady’s office condemned the attack as a grave violation of human dignity and vowed to support transparent justice. The victim is now receiving care at a sexual assault referral centre while investigations continue.
