Court Adjourns Atiku’s Suit Challenging Tinubu’s Eligibility for 2027 Re-election

A Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed September 28 for further proceedings in a suit filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar seeking to stop President Bola Tinubu from contesting the 2027 presidential election. Atiku and the African Democratic Congress allege that Tinubu submitted a forged NYSC discharge certificate to INEC. They are asking the court to disqualify Tinubu and the APC from the election. Tinubu, the APC and INEC are listed as defendants. At the hearing, Atiku’s lawyer said the plaintiffs wanted to personally serve Tinubu with the court papers to avoid procedural issues. The judge adjourned the matter and warned all parties against discussing details of the pending case in traditional or social media.
