Surviving Child Hospitalized after Suspected Herdsmen Kill Mother and Three Brothers in Benue
A suspected herdsmen raid struck the Imande Dem settlement in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. The attackers stormed a home along Gbajimba Road and fatally shot Mrs. Utsuwa Chicha and three of her sons. One young boy escaped with gunshot wounds and was rushed into emergency surgery to remove bullets lodged in his body. The community said he narrowly survived the brutal assault. Residents recalled that Mrs. Chicha’s husband had been killed in an earlier attack, leaving behind a family of widows and relatives. Security forces and local volunteers later recovered the bodies, but officials had not yet issued a statement at the time of this report.
