Kwara Lawmaker Urges Dangote to Consider Ilorin for Future Refinery Investment
A Kwara State lawmaker has urged Aliko Dangote to consider Ilorin for a future refinery or major energy investment, following a legal dispute over land proposed for a Dangote refinery project in Lamu, Kenya. She argued that Ilorin’s location between northern and southern Nigeria, along with developing road, energy, logistics and agro-industrial infrastructure, could support an inland energy and industrial hub. The proposal envisions a project that could serve domestic and regional markets while supporting petrochemicals, storage, manufacturing, engineering services and logistics. She added that any investment would require full compliance with land, environmental and regulatory requirements, as well as engagement with affected communities.
