SERAP Demands Joint Probe of Alleged Vote-Buying in Osun Governorship Election

SERAP has asked INEC, the EFCC and the ICPC to conduct a joint, transparent investigation into alleged vote-buying and other electoral offences linked to the 2026 Osun State governorship election. The organisation said the probe should cover alleged financial inducement, illegal election financing, voter intimidation, violence and misuse of public resources. It also asked the agencies to trace funds allegedly used for unlawful electoral purposes and identify anyone who authorised, financed, distributed or facilitated them. SERAP called for the preservation and review of bank and mobile-money records, telecommunications data, CCTV footage, polling-unit records and other digital evidence. It further urged the agencies to arrest and prosecute suspects where sufficient evidence is established. According to the petition, credible election results depend on voters being able to make their choices freely, without inducement, threats or coercion.
