NDLEA Arrests Alleged Cocaine Cartel Leader After 184.5kg Seizure in Lagos
The NDLEA says it has dismantled a transnational cocaine cartel after intercepting 184.5kg of cocaine allegedly prepared for export through a courier logistics channel in Lagos. The agency estimates that the consignment could have generated about ₦39 billion through international distribution. NDLEA operatives arrested several suspects, including a logistics worker accused of processing shipments for the syndicate. The agency also named luxury-goods dealer and social-media influencer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, known as KC Luxury, as the alleged Nigerian coordinator of the network. According to the NDLEA, Michael was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on 13 August while allegedly attempting to board a flight to Paris. The agency said foreign currencies and jewellery were recovered from him, while a search of his Banana Island apartment reportedly led to the recovery of exotic vehicles. The agency said the cartel used false identities, financial facilitators and contacts in the UK, where some linked suspects have also been arrested. NDLEA said the case highlights drug traffickers' growing use of courier firms and logistics channels to move narcotics across borders.
