Sports Journalist Dies as Colleagues Allege Wife Took Funds Raised for His Treatment

Abuja-based veteran sports journalist Adeolu Johnson has died after a critical illness. A colleague alleged that journalists and other contacts raised money for Johnson’s hospital bills and medication. He claimed that an initial payment was used for treatment, but a larger second payment was allegedly taken by Johnson’s second wife, who had access to his account. Another colleague claimed she was unaware of Johnson’s death until she was contacted. The allegations concerning the donations have not been independently verified.
