Customs Auctions 22,175 Litres of Seized Petrol Worth ₦32.1m in Lagos
The Nigeria Customs Service has auctioned 22,175 litres of petrol seized along the Lagos-Ogun border corridor. The products, valued at ₦32.1 million, were intercepted under Operation Whirlwind and auctioned at the Customs Training College in Ikeja. Customs said the 887 jerry cans of petrol were seized with five vehicles allegedly used for smuggling. The interceptions took place around Imeko, Ilara, Ilaro, Idiroko and the Seme-Badagry route following intelligence-led operations. Officials said the operation is aimed at stopping the cross-border diversion of petroleum products, protecting domestic supply and strengthening Nigeria’s energy security. Border communities were urged to report suspicious movements linked to fuel smuggling.
