Digital ID System Nets Seven Boko Haram, ISWAP Commanders at Katsina Airport

Seven suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP commanders were arrested at Katsina Airport after returning from Mecca. The Interior Minister said the suspects were flagged by Nigeria’s integrated digital identity system. He noted that the National Identity Management Commission database now links with immigration records and Interpol. Signed into law by President Tinubu, the NIMC Act has strengthened identity verification, passport issuance and border control. Officials say the reforms will improve collaboration among agencies and help track high-risk individuals.
