Wike Predicts Tinubu Will Secure 25% Across North, Says Atiku May Struggle in Parts of South
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has argued that President Bola Tinubu will secure at least 25% of votes across the North, while Atiku Abubakar may fail to get 10% in several parts of the South. Speaking on the 2027 political outlook, Wike listed Plateau, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi and Benue as North-Central states he believes Tinubu can win. He said the factors that helped Peter Obi win Plateau in 2023 are no longer present. Responding to concerns about hunger, insecurity and fuel-subsidy removal, Wike said economic hardship has featured in past elections without necessarily deciding the outcome. He argued that Nigerian politics is strongly shaped by grassroots leaders and local political structures, while adding that economic recovery will take time.
