Rufai Oseni Questions States’ Capacity to Run Independent Electricity Systems
Arise News anchor Rufai Oseni has questioned whether Nigerian states have the funds, gas supply and infrastructure needed to generate and distribute electricity independently. Speaking on The Morning Show, Oseni said power generation requires major investment in plants, transmission lines and distribution networks. He argued that legislation alone cannot solve these challenges. He noted that the Federal Government still struggles to provide stable electricity nationwide despite decades of managing the sector. Oseni urged authorities to prioritise fixing the national grid, securing gas for generation and improving transmission.
