Omokri Says 2003 US Embassy Reply Found No FBI Criminal Record on Tinubu
Reno Omokri has dismissed reports that the FBI released criminal records on President Bola Tinubu to a United States federal judge. He said the reports wrongly treat the existence of FBI files as proof of criminal conduct. According to Omokri, US agencies may hold biographical, biometric or immigration-related information on visa applicants and other individuals. He argued that such database records do not automatically amount to a criminal record. He said the issue was previously raised in February 2003, when then-Inspector-General of Police Tafa Balogun reportedly asked the US Embassy about any FBI criminal records involving Tinubu. Omokri said the embassy replied that it had no such records, and urged Nigerians to verify claims before drawing conclusions from references to FBI files.
