Ortom Says He Still Lives in Games Village, Alleges Benue Withheld Ex-Governor Benefits
Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom says he still lives in Games Village, Abuja, years after leaving office. He said he has lived there since 2008, when he served as the PDP’s national auditor. Ortom, who governed Benue from 2015 to 2023, said the state law provided former governors with a house in Abuja or another chosen location. He alleged that Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration cancelled those benefits after he left office. He also claimed that the entitlements included annual medical checks at a hospital of the former governor’s choice, within or outside Nigeria. Ortom said he has not received the benefits since May 2023. The Benue State Government’s response was not included in the interview report.
