Channels TV Reporter Nearly Lynched at Rumuola Filling Station
Channels TV reporter Charles Opurum says he was nearly lynched at a Restopark filling station in Rumuola, Port Harcourt. He had tried to enter the station to buy petrol, but his path was blocked by a vehicle and an elderly man. After honking, a verbal exchange turned physical when the man slapped him. A group of men then joined in and beat him. As he fled in his car, a police officer on duty at the station smashed both his front and rear windshields. During the chaos, one attacker fell from a moving vehicle and was injured. At Rumuepirikom Police Station, CSP John Ayah ordered the arrest of the suspects. CCTV footage confirmed the elderly man struck first. After community elders reviewed the tape, the attackers apologised and paid for the damage.
