World Bank Pushes Small AI Tools to Create Jobs and Boost Productivity
The World Bank Group says it is prioritising job creation and productivity by expanding practical artificial intelligence tools across developing economies. World Bank President Ajay Banga said countries must invest in healthcare, education, clean water, electricity and skills to help young people secure productive work. He noted that about 1.2 billion people will turn 18 over the next 15 years. Banga said the private sector creates most jobs and needs supportive infrastructure, governance reforms and investment-friendly policies. He identified agriculture, healthcare, tourism, infrastructure and value-added manufacturing as key sectors for sustainable employment. He added that simple AI tools could help farmers identify crop diseases, improve access to inputs and markets, and enable health workers to assess patients and reach remote specialists more quickly.
