Nigerian-Born Texas Prison Guard Charged Over Alleged Drug Smuggling
Michael Oluwapelumi Ademoye, a 28-year-old correctional officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, has been arrested after authorities allegedly found him with paper laced with synthetic cannabinoids, known as K2, at the Wynne Unit prison. Investigators said Ademoye allegedly admitted that he was paid to deliver the substance to an inmate. He faces charges of drug manufacturing or delivery and bribery. He was reportedly being held on bonds of $100,000 for the drug charge and $50,000 for bribery as of September 26. The case remains an allegation pending further legal proceedings.
