Sowore Says Wike’s G5 Election Comments Vindicate His 2023 Warnings
Omoyele Sowore says Nyesom Wike’s comments about the G5 governors’ 2023 election strategy support concerns he raised during the campaign season. Wike said the group sought to stop PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar from winning key South-South states. According to him, the governors preferred that Labour Party candidate Peter Obi won Edo and Cross River rather than Atiku. Sowore said the disclosure showed that political actors made behind-the-scenes arrangements while presenting a different picture to voters. The G5 governors fell out with the PDP leadership ahead of the election over disputes concerning the party’s leadership and presidential ticket.
