Tinubu Hires Ex-Trump Adviser in $10M U.S. Lobbying Drive
A newly filed FARA report shows that Matt Mowers, a former senior adviser in the Trump White House, is now working for Nigeria in a $10 million lobbying campaign in Washington. His firm, Valcour LLC, registered on December 30, 2025, to promote U.S.–Nigeria ties and push back on Nigeria’s CPC designation. Mowers served under Rex Tillerson and Mike Pompeo, handled issues from North Korea to the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, and ran Trump’s 2016 field operation. He received $360,000 upfront and passed $165,000 to two subcontractors in the first weeks of the contract. This is one of four active FARA registrations for Tinubu’s administration, bringing total U.S. lobbying spend above $10 million. Citizens and lawmakers can review these public filings (e.g., Valcour #7373, DCI Group #6278) and ask their representatives what messages were delivered on behalf of Nigeria.
