Germany Deports 137 Nigerians on Five Chartered Flights in Five Months

Germany deported at least 137 Nigerians through five documented chartered flights between February and June 2026, according to migration monitoring reports. The returns included 27 people in February, 37 Nigerians in a March joint European Union operation, and 24, 23 and 26 people in April, May and June respectively. The February 18 flight arrived at Lagos Cargo Airport from Stuttgart. Reports said some deportees had serious health conditions or had lived in Germany for years. A single mother and her three children were reportedly deported in error but later returned to Germany after local authorities reviewed their residency documents. Germany also worked with Spain, Austria, Belgium and Frontex on some of the operations. The March flight, which returned 50 people in total, including 37 deported directly by Germany, was described as the largest recorded deportation of Nigerians in the period covered by the reports.
