Customs Free Zone Command Generates ₦557bn Revenue in Eight Months
The Nigeria Customs Service Free Zone Command generated ₦557.02 billion in revenue from January to August 2026, underscoring the growing role of free-zone trade in the economy. At a handover ceremony, outgoing Area Controller Hauwa Abubakar Anifowoshe credited the result to teamwork, discipline and cooperation among officers, free-zone operators, Lekki Deep Sea Port, bonded terminals and other agencies. Anifowoshe retired after 35 years of service and handed over to Acting Customs Area Comptroller Olufemi Kukoyi. Kukoyi said he would build on the command’s performance by improving technology use, enforcement, operational efficiency and trade facilitation.
