Delta Police PRO: Agent Who Seized Commuter’s Phone Isn’t a Police Officer
The Delta State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, has addressed a viral video showing a uniformed security agent confiscating a commuter’s phone. In the footage, an eyewitness accuses the officer of oppression and recalls a recent shooting of a civilian. Reacting on social media, DSP Edafe clarified that the man in the video is not a police officer but a member of Operation Delta Sweep, the state’s joint security task force. Operation Delta Sweep, formerly known as Operation Delta Hawk, was relaunched by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to fight kidnapping, cultism, and armed robbery. It remains unclear why the agent withheld the commuter’s device. The incident has sparked widespread backlash from residents demanding accountability and clearer rules of engagement for the task force.
