Davido Recalls Wizkid and Wande Coal’s Advice Before He Left School for Music

Davido has recalled seeking advice from Wizkid and Wande Coal while struggling to balance school with his growing interest in music. Speaking in the Afrobeats Documentary, he said his father would not have supported him leaving school without proof that music could become a successful career. According to Davido, Wizkid and Wande Coal told him he would need to become a star first. After “Dami Duro” became a major hit, Davido said he could no longer continue with school at the time. He later returned to complete his education after reaching an agreement with his father, who allowed him to pursue music and set up a recording studio.
