Ondo Police Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers in Ilu Abo Gunfight
Early Wednesday morning, operatives from the Federal Highway Unit patrol team in Ilu Abo along the Akure–Owo Expressway responded to a distress call about masked gunmen at a block industry premises beside Ilu-Abo High School. Acting on credible intelligence, officers engaged seven armed suspects in a fierce exchange of fire. Two suspects were killed, while the others escaped into the surrounding bush with gunshot injuries. Police recovered a locally fabricated pistol, live cartridges, mobile phones, face masks and ATM cards believed to belong to the syndicate or their victims. The bodies of the deceased were taken to the State Specialist Hospital in Akure, and the case has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further investigation. The command urged residents, especially health-care providers, to report anyone with suspicious gunshot wounds. It reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-led policing to rid Ondo State of kidnapping and other violent crimes.
