Israeli Tank Fire Kills Lebanese Priest Who Vowed to Stay with Flock
Israeli shelling struck the outskirts of Qlayaa in southern Lebanon, killing Father Pierre Al-Raai and injuring several residents. The Christian village, largely untouched until now, lies just north of the Israeli border. Before his death, Al-Raai recorded a voice message pledging to remain with his congregation despite evacuation orders for areas south of the Litani River. “We have never fled… and we will not flee now,” he said, offering shelter in his church to anyone in need. Tensions are rising across southern Lebanon. The UN plans to evacuate civilians from nearby Alma al-Shaab, where residents also express a firm desire to stay on their land and live in peace amid escalating attacks.
