ADC, NDC Withdraw From Dawakin Kudu Bye-Election as Six Parties Contest
The African Democratic Congress and the Nigeria Democratic Congress will not take part in the September 19 Dawakin Kudu State Assembly bye-election in Kano. INEC has cleared six parties for the poll: ADP, APP, APC, LP, PDP and PRP. The commission says preparations have been completed and urged all participants to keep the peace and follow electoral laws. The ADC said its internal leadership dispute, which is before the courts, stopped it from fielding a candidate. The NDC said it chose to focus its resources and political structure on the 2027 general elections instead. Both parties’ withdrawal leaves six candidates to contest the Dawakin Kudu seat as political activity builds up ahead of 2027.
