Nnewi Girls Receive Scholarships as Professor Urges Confidence and Excellence
Girls in Akaboezem, Uruagu Nnewi, received scholarships and career guidance during the 2026 Day of the Girl Child celebration. The guest speaker, Prof. Yvonne Ihegihu of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, encouraged the girls to pursue their chosen careers through hard work, confidence and dignity. She urged them to use social media responsibly, respect their parents and avoid negative influences. The event also featured the inauguration of the Akaboezem Uruagu Girls Guild, a quiz competition, debate, cultural dance, gifts and the crowning of a brand ambassador. Two pupils were awarded annual scholarships for their academic performance.
