INEC has urged political parties and other actors in Taraba State to avoid inflammatory statements and use legal channels to settle electoral disputes ahead of the 2027 general elections. At a stakeholders’ meeting, Resident Electoral Commissioner Sa’ad Umar Idris also warned media organisations and civil society groups against sharing unverified reports. He said AI-generated content, fake news and disinformation could be used to inflame supporters and communities. The commission is mapping polling units to improve voter access and logistics. INEC also plans a mock accreditation exercise in November 2026 and is working with the NURTW on transporting officials and sensitive materials across the state.
