2027: Why Ogun Voters Must Scrutinise Yayi’s Executive Readiness

As the 2027 Ogun governorship election approaches, voters should look beyond popularity, party machinery and campaign excitement. Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, known as Yayi, has a notable legislative record as chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations. However, legislative influence is different from managing a state’s executive machinery. A governor must oversee ministries and agencies, manage public finances and the civil service, coordinate security, and ensure that policies and projects are delivered. Funding alone does not complete roads, schools or hospitals. Projects require planning, procurement, supervision, approvals and effective implementation. Ogun voters should therefore demand clear plans from Yayi and every other aspirant.
