Osun Police Command Cracks Down on Cultists, Arrests Eight Suspected Thugs

The Osun Police Command has arrested eight suspected cultists and political thugs terrorising communities in Ilesa and Osogbo. During separate operations by the Anti-Cultism Unit, officers seized an axe, live cartridge, charms and several face caps bearing the Eye Confraternity logo. Among the detainees are Abiola Osobu Michael (aka “Small”, 30), Afolabi Samson (29), and six others aged between 19 and 48 years. Investigations continue to locate remaining suspects. The Commissioner of Police warns parents and guardians to discourage cultism and guide youths into positive activities.

Police seized charms and face caps with the Eye Confraternity insignia, yet similar raids sometimes fail to stop recurring cult violence.

Local leaders should partner with the police's Anti-Cultism Unit to launch youth awareness programs and reduce recruitment risks.
