US-Based Nigerian Petitions Tinubu Over Alleged Halt of EFCC Fraud Investigation

US-Based Nigerian Petitions Tinubu Over Alleged Halt of EFCC Fraud Investigation — 1 of 3
1 / 3

A US-based Nigerian, Oluwasegun Elusoji, has asked President Bola Tinubu, the Attorney-General of the Federation, the EFCC chairman and the National Assembly to intervene over the alleged suspension of an EFCC investigation. Elusoji said his petition, submitted through a law firm in April 2025, alleged identity theft, fraud and related offences against several named individuals. He said a follow-up reminder was acknowledged in June, but that investigative activities later appeared to stop without an official explanation. He is seeking a written update from the EFCC, an explanation for the alleged pause and, where necessary, the resumption of the investigation. He argued that all petitions should be handled transparently and without political interference or favouritism.
