Police Rescue Four Abducted Motorists Along Lagos–Benin Expressway in Edo
The Edo State Police Command says it has rescued four people abducted along the Lagos–Benin Expressway in the Ugbokun area. Police said three armed men wearing vigilante-style uniforms allegedly blocked the road with logs and leaves on the night of July 30, 2026. They reportedly attacked motorists and took some occupants into a nearby forest. Operatives from the Okada Division, supported by vigilantes, local hunters and other security personnel, launched a bush-combing operation aided by drones. The sustained operation reportedly forced the suspects to abandon the victims and flee. The four victims were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families. Police say efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
