Petrol Reaches ₦1,395/Litre as Dangote Raises Gantry Price to ₦1,350
Petrol prices rose to as high as ₦1,395 per litre on Saturday after Dangote Petroleum Refinery increased its gantry price from ₦1,265 to ₦1,350 per litre. Filling stations in Lagos and Ogun reflected different prices. MRS in Alapere sold at ₦1,395, while Mobil sold at ₦1,385. Matrix in Kara sold at ₦1,360, and NNPC retail outlets in Ibafo charged ₦1,380. Some stations were yet to adjust, with Bovas selling at ₦1,280. This is Dangote refinery’s fourth petrol price increase since August 21. Its gantry price has risen by ₦185, or about 15.9 percent, in 22 days. The increase follows a surge in global crude oil prices linked to supply disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz. Motorists now face pump prices far above the roughly ₦830 per litre recorded before the Middle East crisis, with prices varying by location and retailer.
