NDLEA Arrests 42 in Edo, Declares Suspected Drug Trafficker Wanted
The NDLEA in Edo says it arrested 42 suspected drug traffickers in September and seized about 9,520kg of illicit substances. The figure includes cannabis farms destroyed across parts of Ovia South West, Owan East, Owan West and Esan South East. The command also declared Gospel Mudiaga Odeh, also known as Omega, wanted after he allegedly escaped during an operation. Officers said they arrested a 26-year-old woman at the location and recovered suspected drugs, cash and a vehicle linked to the case. NDLEA said 22 of those arrested were women and 20 were men. The command recorded three convictions during the month, while 83 cases remain pending in court. It added that it counselled 28 clients, offered vocational training to support rehabilitation, and partnered with the Edo State Drug Control Committee on an anti-drug awareness marathon for secondary school students.
