Armed Forces Personnel Receive September Salaries With New Pay Increases

Personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria have begun receiving their September 2026 salaries with the newly approved pay increases reflected in their payments. The increases, approved to take effect from September 1, cover about 250,000 personnel. Officers above the rank of colonel are to receive a 30% increase, personnel from colonel to warrant officer receive 50%, while those from private to staff sergeant receive 80%. The revised package is expected to raise the annual military salary bill from ₦660 billion to ₦924 billion. The government says the increase is part of efforts to improve troop welfare as personnel confront security threats across the country.
