The listing featured a young Black child model and sparked questions about how the product passed the retailer’s review process. The company apologised and said the costume should never have been included in its product range. Target said it understood the issue was especially hurtful to Black customers, employees and partners. The retailer said it is reviewing how the item was approved and what changes are needed to prevent a similar incident.
