Yobe Youths Protest Economic Hardship, Demand Tinubu’s Removal
Hundreds of youths staged a peaceful “Tinubu Must Go” protest in Potiskum, Yobe State, on October 1. The demonstrators said President Bola Tinubu’s Independence Day broadcast did not address their concerns. The protesters marched through the Tsohowar Kasuwa area carrying placards and flags linked to the African Democratic Congress. They cited economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment and dissatisfaction with the administration’s leadership since 2023. Participants said they were exercising their right to free expression and called attention to hunger, poverty and insecurity. Eyewitnesses said the protest remained peaceful and orderly.
