Benue Assures Residents of Security Reinforcement After Deadly Ayilamo Attack
The Benue State Government has commiserated with residents of Ayilamo in Logo Local Government Area following an attack that killed several people, including four police officers. It said it remains committed to protecting lives and property and restoring peace in affected communities. The government said the recent North-Central Zonal Security Summit in Makurdi strengthened cooperation among federal and state authorities, security chiefs and other stakeholders. It added that Army 5 Division units would be deployed to Ayilamo, Kwande, Agatu, Guma and other vulnerable areas. Residents have been urged to remain calm, vigilant and law-abiding, while providing credible information to security agencies. The government said investigations are ongoing and pledged to improve surveillance, early-warning systems and protection for rural communities.
