Abuja Child Trafficking Suspect Says She Was Paid ₦250,000 Per Child
A woman arrested over an alleged child-trafficking operation in Abuja says she received ₦250,000 for each child she brought to a woman identified as Madam Nkechi. She told journalists that she returned to the arrangement after a previous arrest because she was allegedly told the children would be given shelter and education. She said the organiser claimed to have government approval. The suspect said she had earlier received part of ₦1.5 million, which was shared among several people. Other suspects allegedly identified Madam Nkechi as the recruiter and said she offered money for children described as orphans or street children.
