Kano Gives Retired Civil Servants 48 Hours to Vacate Offices, Faces Salary Probe
The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has ordered retired civil servants still occupying government offices to leave within 48 hours. The commission said officers who continued to receive salaries after reaching the retirement age or completing their years of service could face investigation. Permanent secretaries and directors of administration have been asked to submit lists of affected officers by October 10, 2026. The action follows a Head of Civil Service directive requiring retired officials to hand over immediately. The commission said it would also investigate anyone who helped retirees remain on the payroll, as part of efforts to stop wrongful salary payments and recover government resources.
