Police Arrest Zamfara Man Over Viral Video Allegedly Inciting Religious Violence
The Nigeria Police Force says it has arrested Umar Ibrahim Gandi Maradun, 22, over a viral video alleged to contain statements capable of inciting religious violence. Police said the suspect, from Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, was seen in clothing associated with JIBWIS. The organisation reportedly disassociated itself from the alleged conduct and handed him over to the police. The Zamfara State Police Command says an investigation is ongoing. It urged the public not to circulate the video or unverified claims that could worsen religious tensions.
