Osun Seeks to Vacate Order Freezing Its Accounts Over Disputed $15.98m Award
The Osun State Government has asked the Federal High Court in Lagos to set aside an ex-parte order freezing some of its accounts. The government alleges that Gamji Nigeria Company Limited secured the order without disclosing key facts to the court. Osun said it had already approached the Lagos State High Court on September 1 to challenge the arbitral award and seek a suspension of its enforcement. It argued that Gamji was served with the case but did not disclose the pending challenge when it sought enforcement at the Federal High Court. The dispute stems from a 2017 contract and includes a contested claim of $15.98 million. The state also alleges irregularities in the arbitration process and says it is pursuing legal steps to protect public funds while the matter remains before the courts.
