Gunmen Pose as Customers, Kill Shawarma Vendor in Sangotedo

Fear has gripped Sangotedo in Lagos State after a popular shawarma vendor, widely known as Andy, was shot dead by suspected cultists. Witnesses say armed men approached his stand near ShopRite on Saturday evening, pretending to buy shawarma. They then opened fire at close range, striking him in the head before fleeing the scene. An anti-cultism platform, Confra Naija, claims members of the Eiye cult group have taken responsibility for the killing. The vendor was remembered as a calm, hardworking businessman from Benue State. Security experts warn that clashes between rival cult groups are fuelling violence across Lagos. Many residents have expressed alarm over the rise in targeted shootings and broader insecurity.
