Benue Govt Challenges Obi, NDC to Name Aide Linked to Convoy Obstruction
The Benue State Government has asked the Nigeria Democratic Congress and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to identify the aide allegedly involved in obstructing Obi’s convoy during his visit to the state. Governor Hyacinth Alia’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, said the government had no prior knowledge of the incident and only became aware after images and reports circulated online. He denied that the governor was responsible for the alleged blockade. Kula said anyone linked to the incident should be investigated and prosecuted if evidence establishes wrongdoing. Obi had alleged that government-linked youths stopped his convoy, while Omoyele Sowore claimed the action was planned by the state government. The spokesman also said Benue remained concerned about insecurity and was working to improve the situation despite the wider national security challenge.
