US DHS Lists 24 Nigerians Arrested Over Alleged Crimes
The US Department of Homeland Security says immigration authorities arrested 24 Nigerian nationals in different parts of the country during ongoing deportation operations. The allegations listed include wire and mail fraud, money laundering, drug offences, identity theft, assault, forgery and child cruelty. The arrests do not amount to convictions, and each case should be determined through due process. The list has also prompted debate over ethnic stereotyping. Names alone are not a reliable basis for assigning ethnicity or blaming any Nigerian group for crimes allegedly committed by individuals.
