Passenger Dies After Jumping From Recklessly Driven Bus in Surulere
A male passenger has died after jumping from a moving commercial bus that crashed into a median pole at Ogunlana Junction, inward Ojuelegba in Surulere, Lagos. Preliminary reports from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority said the bus driver was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and operating the vehicle recklessly before the crash. Motorists behind the bus reportedly took evasive action as it moved erratically. The passenger reportedly jumped from the uncontrolled bus and suffered severe injuries on impact. He was later confirmed dead. LASTMA officials, police officers and emergency responders secured the scene and cleared the damaged vehicle. The agency urged motorists to avoid drunk and reckless driving and to inspect critical vehicle parts, including brakes, tyres and steering systems, before travelling.
