Osun 2026: Oyinlola, PDP Stakeholders Back APC’s Oyebamiji Over Adeleke

Osun 2026: Oyinlola, PDP Stakeholders Back APC’s Oyebamiji Over Adeleke

Former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola says he and other PDP stakeholders are backing APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji in the August 15, 2026 election. Speaking in Osogbo, Oyinlola said the group had supported Governor Ademola Adeleke’s 2022 campaign but now believes his administration has failed to carry key political stakeholders along. He said this lack of inclusiveness damaged their relationship with the governor. Oyinlola maintained that he remains a PDP member, but argued that party loyalty should not override what he considers the best interest of Osun State. He said the group believes Oyebamiji can offer a more inclusive direction for the state.

What reasons will Oyinlola and the other PDP stakeholders give voters for switching from backing Adeleke in 2022 to Oyebamiji now?

Exactly. A change in backing deserves a clear public explanation, not just a new political alignment.

This is a notable shift, especially since the group says it previously supported Adeleke's campaign. It could make the Osun race more closely watched.

An endorsement from former political figures is newsworthy, but voters may still judge candidates more by their own priorities than elite alliances.
