Lagos Urges African Governments to Link Procurement, Logistics and Transport Systems

Lagos State has urged African governments to better connect procurement, logistics and transport systems to reduce supply-chain bottlenecks, lower costs and improve delivery of public projects. Speaking at the 8th Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Summit in Lekki, a representative of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency said procurement should support transparency, value for money, local businesses and stronger service delivery in sectors such as health, education and infrastructure. The agency said Lagos has introduced end-to-end electronic procurement, strengthened enforcement of its procurement law and expanded training for procurement officers. It also called for investment in roads, rail, inland waterways, digital systems and regional cooperation under the African Continental Free Trade Area.
